چکیده

Abstract Background Osteogenesis is tightly coupled with angiogenesis during bone repair and regeneration. However, the underlying mechanisms linking these processes remain largely undefined. The present study aimed to test hypothesis that epidermal growth factor-like domain-containing protein 6 (EGFL6), an angiogenic factor, also functions in marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs), playing a key role interaction between osteogenesis angiogenesis. Methods We evaluated how EGFL6 affects activity of human umbilical cord vein endothelial (HUVECs) via proliferation, transwell migration, wound healing, tube-formation assays. Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) Alizarin Red S (AR-S) were used assay osteogenic potential BMSCs. qRT-PCR, western blotting, immunocytochemistry evaluate angio- osteo-specific markers pathway-related genes proteins. In order determine vivo, was injected into fracture gaps rat tibia distraction (DO) model. Radiography, histology, histomorphometry quantitatively osteogenesis. Results stimulated both differentiation through Wnt/β-catenin signaling vitro. Administration DO model promoted CD31 hi EMCN type H-positive capillary formation associated enhanced formation. Type H vessels referred subtype involved by EGFL6. Conclusion BMSCs accelerated regeneration stimulating Thus, increasing secretion appeared underpin therapeutic benefit promoting angiogenesis-coupled These results imply boosting local concentrations may represent new strategy for treatment compromised healing defect restoration.

Angiogenesis and mineralization during distraction osteogenesis.

Distraction osteogenesis is currently a standard method of bone lengthening. It is a viable method for the treatment of short extremities as well as extensive bone defects, because large amounts of bone can be regenerated in the distraction gap. Mechanical stimulation by distraction induces biological responses of skeletal regeneration that is accomplished by a cascade of biologic processes tha...

Distraction Osteogenesis

Distraction osteogenesis is increasingly used for bone lengthening of facial skeleton. Distractors may be intraoral and extraoral. The authors present development of distractors and their use for treatment of facial bones. Procedure may be used for treatment of malformations, syndroms, posttraumatic bone defects and deformities. The advantage of a distractor are a simple and fast procedure, sho...

Distraction Osteogenesis

Distraction osteogenesis is a treatment modality for the correction of bone anomalies and abnormalities which are either pathological or developmental in origin. Its use in the field of dentistry began in the late twentieth century. Successfulresults from clinical trials has led to more researchers to explore this field. Its use in dentistry involves the correction of craniofacial anomalies, al...

Distraction Osteogenesis Update: Introduction of Multidirectional Cranial Distraction Osteogenesis

In this review, we discuss in detail our current procedure for treating craniosynostosis using multidirectional cranial distraction osteogenesis (MCDO). The MCDO method allows all phenotypes of skull deformity to be reshaped by distraction osteogenesis, except in patients who are 5 months of age or younger and patients with posterior cranial vault problems. We report the results of clinical dat...
